For starters, we've been wearing yellow every Saturday since 709. And while I haven't exposed my kiddos to high-risk events (water cannons, tear gas and all), I do bring them for "safer" outings, just to instill love of country, teach them about standing up for their Constitutional rights, and allow them to join in the camaraderie of fellow countrymen who believe that this country is fighting for.
One such event was the LRT ride on New Year's eve. We were supposed to gather at the main station and head over to KLCC and spread some New Year's wishes to shoppers.

At the LRT station, our party got separated as the train doors closed before we could all get onboard. Boy was in the train, while the rest of us were left in the station. Somehow, I had a great peace of heart that he was in safe hands. This motley crew of yellow-garbed Malaysians were strangers to me. But after several outings together, I knew I can trust them to look after my Boy. And they did. We hopped on the next train and were soon reunited at our destination point.
This year had been an eventful and momentous year for me, in terms of civic consciousness and national pride. We no longer sit on our behinds or cower in fear of the powers that be. We rise up together, as Malaysians who believe in a bright future for our beloved tanahair!
God bless Malaysia!
We love you Malaysia! |
