Parks: KL Bird Park

One of my favourite parks is the KL Bird Park in Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur.

Apart from the fact that it is "World's Largest Free-flight Walk-in Aviary", with more than 3,000 birds, it is a wonderful way to see a whole variety of feathered friends up close in a beautifully landscaped environment.

The daring birds would come up close (sometimes too close for comfort), giving you lots of ad-hoc photo ops. There are bird feeding stations located throughout with designated feeding times, or you can hand feed the ostriches, emus, lories, and even fishes!

Feeding stations

Hello Emu ... I see u!

Lories: RM2 per feed

Here fishy, fishy!

There are ample educational and informational boards at each section, and even a hatchery where you can see hatchlings and day-old chicks.

Egg-citing!

To top off the day's outing, be sure to catch the bird shows (12.30pm and 3.30pm daily). The amphitheatre is next to a children's playground, where you can hangout in, while waiting for the show to start.

Definitely a world-class park worth visiting every now and then!
