Play has so many benefits to a child. It exercises their creativity and problem-solving skills. One good piece of advice I've received was, "Don't buy toys with batteries."
Blocks are great fun for all ages. Here's Boy's robot. I like the way how everything is symmetrical, yet not identical.
Legos are wonderful too. Hubby was surprised at how well Boy could follow instructions now, compared to when he first started building Legos.
What impressed me most was this incident with Boy's Transformer toy — a Constructicon Devastator. It's 7 different vehicles that combine into 1 Transformer.
Problem solving:
1. Problem: Boy's had trouble combining 2 sections of the toy together for a while.
2. Solution: After bugging me for a while, and despite my own procrastination, he persisted until he found a Youtube tutorial with the instructions. Here he is dismantling his Transformer to the state shown in the starting point of the video.
4. Success: And he did! Well done, and proud of you, Son :-)
[Update] Another commendable achievement was when Boy helped his brother put together his own Devastator using his CAT construction vehicle toys :-)
