Royal Selangor is one of the renowned international brands that's synonymous with Malaysian handcrafted skill and pride, and its
Visitor Centre in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur is a masterful showcase of it all. Unfortunately, most KL-ites would not have been there before, so it's really a hidden gem for both local and foreign visitors.

Inside glimpse of the craftsmen at work |
For a first-hand experience of pewter crafting, you can join the
School of Hard Knocks. For RM60, you get to personalise and knock out a pewter bowl (with an apron to keep). It's tiring and hard work, knocking the plate into a smooth, round bowl — you definitely learn to appreciate the skills of the pewter craftsmen. Younger kids will need an adult's help. Definitely a nice souvenir to remember the day by!
