The kids had a great time, and the kiasu mummy decided to squeeze in as many learning opportunities as possible. After all, with all the money spent, it better be educational!
One of the main things was a travel journal — I scoured the Internet for various activity worksheets, maps and trivia on the places we were visiting and compiled them into a folder. The kids would work on each worksheet daily, sometimes not without complaint. But my hope and prayer is that it'd help them better understand and appreciate their holiday experience and have a momento they can look back on in years to come.
My USA Journal: Write-up about the Golden Gate Bridge |
Writing assignments included a letter to their Grandparents |
Brochures, ticket stubs and other knick-knacks are included |
We also picked up some other fun activity booklets along the way, such as the "Junior Ranger Activity Booklet" from the Grand Canyon and the various paraphernalia from the J. Paul Getty Museum.
We also picked up a book or two from each place of visit so that the kids can read and remember where they've been.
Of course there were the on-the-go pop quizzes, such as counting how old the Golden Gate Bridge was, or how many quarters were needed to buy a can of Coke.
Oh ya ... Boy learnt to tie his shoelaces during those long hours on the flight! Achievement of the trip!
Thank you Jesus for the opportunity for a truly memorable holiday.
