Party: Paris in Turqoise & Pink

So the eldest turned 12 and wanted a Paris-themed tea party.

As part of the decor, decided to make Eiffel tower standees for the table. Have never tried something like this before, and it was surprisingly not too difficult.

Thought I'd share the process here, in case anyone else would like to give it a go.

Step 1: Googled an image of the tower and recoloured it according to theme. I needed 2 towers for each standee.

Step 2: Got the image printed on A3 sticker paper and stuck on foam board.

Party: Surprise Mothers' Day Dinner by the Kids

The best part about this party was that it was entirely conceptualised and produced by Girl and her friends.

They conspired with Grandma to do the grocery shopping and the daddies to ensure the mummies come at the right time, while they spent the whole afternoon putting together a feast (with a little help from Ate).

So when we got back, we were greeted with appetisers and a cool drink, handwritten menu cards and table paper mats, and an awesome 3-course dinner.

To top it all, the night ended with some dancing. What a lovely way to end a wonderful evening with loved ones.

Party: Something Minecraft. Something Tractor. Something Lego.

Big Boy and Baby Boy celebrated their birthdays this month. We tried hard to think of a way to combine and celebrate their different interests.

So we got in touch with Bricks4Kidz in Petaling Jaya and gave them this brief: Something Minecraft. Something Tractor. Something Lego. For kids aged between 5 and 8.

And they came back with this specially designed package: Minecrafting with Construction Monsters (Model building include: bulldozers, dump truck, scissor lift, Minecraft character Steve, Minecart, and Creeper).

Sounds good enough for me! So one Saturday morning, we gathered at the 10 Boulevard outlet, and the Bricks4Kidz staff took it from there. They did the decor, the programme and the games, so basically there was little I had to do except take photos and chit chat. There was even a play yard with some Duplo pieces for the younger kids to play with. All the children were well and properly occupied until it was time to leave.

Party: A Tea-riffic, Hat-tastic Party!

Our eldest is 10! Her also birthday marks a decade of parenthood for Mummy and Daddy, and that's a milestone worth celebrating!

Girl #1 is a fan of Ever After High, a web series based on the lives of the offspring of famous fairy tale characters. Her favourite was Madeline Hatter, the daughter of the Mad Hatter, who loves tea parties. So she wanted to have a little tea party with her fellow fan friends.

In keeping with the theme, we had lots of blue, purple and pink colours, polka dots, cupcakes and teapots and teacups. Mummy spent several weeks sourcing for suitable tableware and decor, cake and finger food suppliers (4 different ones!!), craft materials and door gifts, as well as bidding for Ever After High dolls on eBay and having them shipped back all the way from the States.

The day of the party was a particularly hot, sunny afternoon. But thank God that everything went smoothly and everyone had a memorable time drinking tea and rejoicing in 10 years of His faithfulness and grace upon Girl #1's life.

Party: Mexican Fiesta

We had a couple of family celebrations in September so we decided to have a fiesta, with a Mexican theme.

Girl has been learning cooking, so this was a chance for her to practice her fajita-making skills.

To set the ambiance, wee decorated the venue with themed cut-outs, paper lanterns, cactus and various props.

Party: Fourth of July

We had an American house guest who was feeling a little homesick, so we thought one way to cheer her up was to throw an American 4th of July party!

So we went all red, white and blue, with a whole Independence Day picnic set-up, with hot dogs, fries, chips and lots more yummy food. It was thrown together at the last minute, but I think it turned out well, and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Growing Up: Par-Tee Time

The boys celebrated their 6th and 3rd birthday, respectively, today with a fun miniature golf party at Mini Putt, Citta Mall.

Decor was basically DIY, with a golf ball/tartan theme,
although the mini-golf ambiance definitely helped

Food items were named according to theme too,
e.g. doughnuts = hole-in one; blue jelly = watering hole;
fishballs = golf balls; sandwiches = sand-wedges;
drinks = watering hole; pasta = in the rough;
chicken drummets = club heads; tea = tea off

  

 
It was a great time for us to spend with family and friends. I like activities where parents and children can participate together, and miniature golf was a big hit with all ages.

Party: Ahoy Matey!

De nephew had a maritime-themed birthday party, and the kiddos and I got to help out with the decor — our first attempt at party decor, and what a splash it was!
