When suddenly ... something dropped down onto the lawn!
A little myna hatchling!
Poor fella didn't last long before breathing its last :-(
We're not sure where it dropped down from — the trees or the rafters. Apparently another baby myna followed suit later in the afternoon.
We've had an "issue" of myna birds making nests in our roof. Some say it's a sign of good luck. But it's hard to be grateful when there's a whole racket up above the ceiling when you're trying to get some sleep.
Back in April 2010, we got some workmen to clear the rafters for us, and they found some pretty blue-coloured eggs in there.
A year later, after a particularly noisy episode — with thumping and rolling and even feathers floating down through our downlights, we called the workmen again. This time they found 2 baby hatchlings ... and a whole lot of nesting material!

A huge stash up there ... |
The latest episode may mean that they birds are back up there. Hopefully no more baby birds falling out of their nests!
